Katyln & Geoff

This is Katlyn and Geoff. I am currently 25 and Geoff is 29. Growing up I always had pets around the house, usually cats because we lived in apartments. When I was 15 my parents brought home a Boxer female puppy whom they named Tara. My father had a Boxer growing up and loved the breed. I fell in love with that brown-eyed, four legged, furry friend and was sad to leave her behind when I moved to California at 19. I lived in rooms for rent and was unable to have a dog. I from Indiana and Geoff from California had met on AOL in a chatroom in 1997, by 2000 we were living together in California. In November 2002 we were married in a small chapel in Sin City (Las Vegas, NV) and in September 2003 had purchased our first home where we now reside in Pittsburg. Geoff had met Tara on trips back east to visit my parents, liked her just fine, but preferred smaller dogs and was weary of larger dogs. In August 2004, I talked Geoff into getting a Boxer. Really wanting a puppy, got a tip from my mother about dog rescue and eventually found NorCal Boxer Rescue. Really wanting a female, we met Boris and fell in love. Right down to his deep, dark eyes to the tip of his long tail (never saw a Boxer before with a tail). As time went by we decided that Boris really needed a friend, then we found Rascal, a perfect match for Boris... it was a match made in heaven. Rascal was rescued from NCBR in February 2005. Then some more time passed and we started to consider fostering. Originally we only wanted to foster one at a time, thought more than that would be too much. Well by the time September 2005 rolled around, a month after starting, we were fostering two and had two of our own....OH BOY!! As of today we have three NCBR Boxers that we have adopted - Boris, a 5 year old flashy brindle male, Rascal, a 2 year old brindle male, and Maggie, a 2 year old white female and have two fosters as a time. We joined NCBR because we thought we could make the difference in the lives of dogs desperately needing our help and families that wanted the companionship of this loving breed. I can't imagine ever in my life not having a Boxer around until... well you get the picture. NCBR is an awesome organization. We love saving Boxers and making some family happy with the companionship of an awesome rescue dog. I am also happy to annouce that Tara, my first Boxer, is still alive and well, she'll be 11 years old in a few months and lives with my parents in their new home in Danville, IN. We look forward to visiting her (and my parents and new nephew) in April 2006.
