Joe Boxer DiVecchio – December, 2011

August 25, 2003 – December 27, 2011

To my Boy Joe,
My heart hurts so bad, you were my sweet boy. You gave to me so much…..
I will miss…..
coming home and you sliding across the room to say hello and the million licks with that big tongue,
chasing you around the dining room table,
you batting the ball around the kitchen as I made your dinner,
playing soccer with you every afternoon,
afternoon naps together,
your funny little walk,
all the laughs you gave me
and our short time together…..
Thank you, Joe, for everything. I always thought your chest was so big because you had such a big heart.
The house is so empty and quiet without you there.
Joe, I will always miss you and always love you, Mom…’til we meet again, sweet boy.

It is with great sadness that we are letting you know that Joe Boxer passed on Tuesday, December 27 at 3:30 p.m. His colitis worsened last Thursday and after numerous blood transfusions and other measures to save him he succumbed. Joe put up a strong fight through it all. He even perked up on Monday when Nyki and Maya came and picked him up to transfer to a different vet hospital to see a specialist. He was so happy to see his Mom and best friend, even though he still felt horrible he was wagging that little stub, licking everyone’s face and being that goofball we all knew and loved. Things were looking up and the vet said to take him home. Joe came home and laid by the fire, but he got worse that night. Nyki took him back to the vet, but there was nothing left to do. She brought him home and cuddled one last time. He was able to pass on, at home, with his Mom, Maya, and other close friends. One consolation is that we all know Joe is up there making new friends, maybe even hanging out with some of our old dog friends we have lost. He probably even found a chewed up soccer ball, and with his tongue down to his knees and that goofy look on his face, is making everyone laugh and join in the fun.

He was a Great Dog, a best friend, and lived the best life a dog could possibly live. He will be missed by all, but especially, Nyki, who loved him most of all…

We love you, we miss you, and thank you, Joe.
