Holly is a sweet, mellow girl who likes to play if engaged. Her favorite things are chewing on toys until they lose a limb (she excels at destroy stuffed toys!), playing tug ‘o war, and napping. Holly can snore with the best of ‘em! Her other favorite hobby is eating: she loves her meal times and checking out what the rest of us in the household are eating. Holly is the only dog in the house and loves all the attention.

Holly walks fairly well on a leash and likes her twice daily walks. She also likes rides in the car and will quietly lay down for longer road trips, as well as stick her head out the window once in awhile to feel the air on her cute face. Holly is house trained; she can be coaxed into a crate and will begrudgingly lay down until it’s time to come out.

Since we’ve had her we’ve seen Holly be reactive to other dogs on leash, so her fur-ever home can’t have children under 15. She hasn’t met any cats but she does chase squirrels and birds, so it’s likely she would not do well sharing a home with a cat. If you’re looking for an affectionate but mellow companion and don’t have cats or young children*, Holly could be the girl for you!

*Because Holly is reactive to other dogs, under the NCBR age policy, she cannot be adopted to a home with children less than 15. NCBR is concerned that a younger child would not be able to handle Holly in a dog-on-dog situation. However, Holly loves children and is very gentle with them so she would undoubtedly do very well living in a home with children. Although NCBR will not change Holly’s child-friendly age classification, it does recognize that there might be a home with children that would be appropriate for Holly and NCBR will entertain an exception for Holly to live with kids in the right situation.
