Sammy – January, 2014

Sammy is a NorCal Boxer Rescue. Alum that came in to my life one wonderful day in January of 2009 after he’d just turned 1! Melinda Sciandri(NCBR ALUM Mom of Lola & Leroy, pic attached) turned me on to the organization after I lost my first Boxer Boomer and was ready for my next one. I am eternally grateful to NCBR from that day forward as Sammy was such a special part of not only my own life but the lives of my family and friends. Sammy was such a sweet boy and encompassed all the traits that make us love this breed so much: endless boxer wiggles, silly/playful personality, countless snuggles & love, living in our laps even though he was 85 pounds, amazing around ALL the kids, protective when he needed to be and always there when we needed him. Sammy just celebrated his 6th birthday on 1/23 right as I found out he had a cancerous tumor in his jaw. Overwhelmed with sadness, I knew I had to make the ultimate sacrifice and do what was best for him. I, too, decided to let him live his last days doing everything he loved, I made him countless omelets, let him play with the kids, spend time visiting with all his favorite people, took him on countless walks and let him run & run until he couldn’t. Sammy went to heaven on 1/31/14 while I held him in my arms with my Mom and my best friend Claire V Rubin at his side. All the while we told him how much we loved him and it was beyond peaceful. I miss him every day and my life will never be the same, but I am truly grateful to NCBR for bringing this beautiful boxer baby in to my life. We had 5 amazing years together and when the time is right, I will be coming back to NCBR to adopt my next boxer love. Until then Thank YOU, ALL for all you do for this breed and for changing the lives of those who rescue them!

Thank YOU,
MLM
