Santos – July, 2014

It is with great sadness that I am writing my beloved Mr. Santos has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to run free with Ginger, Como and Siena. I adopted Santos in 2004 from NCBR when he was just about 1-1/2 yrs old. He was a beautiful flashy brindle boy with a wild side that needed to be tamed. The first dog trainer that came to the house told me he was worse than any Rottweiler she had ever seen. I knew that this was not true and searched until I found a wonderful trainer at Dairydell’s in Petaluma, so off he went for a 2 week in house training session that proved to be a winner!! With follow up and hard work, Santos turned into a most loving, fun and loyal boy.

He was like the energizer bunny, he just kept going and going and going until just about 5-6 months ago when he developed a heart murmur which was managed with medicine until one last episode when he was just to tired to fight back. He enjoyed his breakfast, cookies, a romp in the yard and came in to the bedroom one last time. He was such a beautiful boy (not a stitch of grey on him even at 12) and I will be forever grateful to NCBR for rescuing him and giving me the honor of being his Mom for 10 years!!!
