Penelope – March 2021

Penelope (fna Aeryn) was the apple of our eye and our favorite pup. Shhh, don’t tell our other dogs. She was such a special dog. She was gentle, caring, and of course, super goofy. I swear she was an old soul, and she thought she was a human. She looked after our deaf Boxer boy, Zeus, from the day she met him (back in 2013).

When we introduced our Frenchie into the mix in 2019, Penelope took Athena under her wing right away. Athena and Penelope were pretty much inseparable. They could always be found snuggling together, sleeping.

Penelope was scared of everything and didn’t know how to play with toys when we adopted her. It took years, but she came out of her shell and became a typically goofy Boxer that loved to play and fling her toys high into the air. When we first got her she was scared to death by the sound of chip or cereal bags. We decided to give her one chip or a piece of cereal from what we had, to show her it wasn’t scary. She went from cowering at the sound of the bags to drooling when she heard one.
