Hi there! I’m DJ, a truly handsome stud-muffin with the softest fur you’ll ever feel! My human recently passed away, and I’m now looking for my next loving family. Since moving in with my foster mom, I’ve been discovering how big the world is. I’m incredibly curious about new sights and sounds, though sometimes new experiences can feel a bit scary. When I hear something new, I’m on high alert and will alert my foster mom with a bark – it’s a behavior I’m learning to manage as I gain more confidence.
I show my affection through generous licks and kisses, and I’m not shy about asking for attention. I love to rest my head on your arm or leg for comfort, forming a deep bond with my favorite humans. While I’m mostly a quiet, calm boy, I also have delightful bursts of energy! I absolutely love to play with my balls and squeak toys, which are my favorites. I really enjoy a good wrestle and game of fetch with my foster dad, and impressively, I don’t growl or bark when a toy is taken from me.
My foster mom and I have started “school”, where she says words like “drop it” and “leave it.” Its confusing but I know I’m a smart guy and I’ll understand soon. I’m very good at “sit” and take my rewards in the most gentle way. The most exciting part of my day is when we go for walks outside and I get to see other dogs. I get so happy and eager to see them that I want to pull toward them, hoping for a romp and boxing match; typical, I know. I’m a friendly boy who’s never mean, but I’m told I need to refine my social skills for calmer greetings. I just want to play with them so badly!
New people might make me feel a bit timid at first, but once I warm up, I’ll invite them to play, grab a toy, and probably shower them with kisses too. I like to save some food in my bowl or leave treats in my crate so I can come by later for a little snack.
