Sarge – September, 2016

Today, we said goodbye to our Sarge. We adopted him 7 years ago (2009) from NorCal Boxer Rescue and he has been my shadow ever since (mama’s boy through and through). He was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy about 8 months ago and we have watched this incurable disease slowly rob him of the use of his hind legs. In recent weeks, additional complications contributed to the degradation of his quality of life and we knew it was time. We take comfort in the fact that his 11 year old body is no longer in pain. We will miss him fiercely. We choose to always remember him this way – the day he joined us in his forever home – so handsome posing in the front yard. RIP Sargie.
