Jasper – July, 2017
Today was one of those sad and difficult days in rescue. With the help of No Paws Left Behind Rescue Transports, we saved Jasper from the shelter and transported him directly to our veterinarian. Jasper came to us as emaciated as any dog we have ever rescued, weighing only 24 pounds. He couldn’t keep anything down even after being intravenously hydrated. Our vet, who has been in practice for many years and has a wonderful intuitive sense about illness, felt that something was critically wrong with Jasper’s GI system. They did an ultrasound and found his abdominal organs riddled with cancer. Jasper was extremely uncomfortable and very sad – we humanely euthanized him on July 7th, helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge to run free with all those who’ve gone before him. Dog speed, Jasper.
