Alka

Alka is a smart, intuitive girl, has not had a single accident in the house and learned to use the dog door in about ten minutes. She knows the basics such as sit and down and also shake and high five. She waits nicely for her food bowl and returns to her bed when she is finished, while her bowl is being picked up, before she is released. Alka will do best in a home that is calm & on the quiet side but will provide firm leadership, so she knows she can count on you to take care of her. Alka typically takes a little while to warm up to new people but once you have earned her trust she is a typical Boxer goofball who does zoomies, loves cuddles, lap time, hand & face licks, hugs and will be by your side as you go about your day. She gets along well with her foster brother, after a bit of an extended introduction and would do best with a submissive male or even as an only dog, if provided enough enrichment. Alka has lived with a few cats in her foster home and does well with them, including our big orange girl who tries to snuggle up with her in her crate from time to time. She walks nicely on a leash and looks forward to her walks. She is a bit fearful of strangers in general so we let her take the lead as far as meeting new people. Alka is quiet and calm in her crate when needed during the day and all night.
