Ellie is a sweet beauty. She likes to play chase, bitey face, chew on sticks, explore, play with stuffy toys, and give kisses. She has been known to pause play for some snuggling!

She does well with her crate training but still learning commands. She is learning potty training, getting used to wearing a harness, and much more. She is learning basic training and is motivated by treats, which will help as she continues her training.

Ellie likes to play outside and inside; wherever her person is. While she is crated she uses her bark to communicate she has to potty or when her brother goes outside without her. She sometimes uses her bark during playtime too, but she doesn’t bark at objects, noises, or people. She is fearless, full of energy, spunky, and a bit mischievous. When she is one on one with her person she is calm and gentle. Her striking features and sweet, playful personality make her hard to resist.

The ideal home for Ellie is where she can socialize with her family, continue her training, but be the only dog in the household.

When Ellie first got to Foster Care, she guarded food, smells of food, toys and high value treats. With work, she has stopped guarding toys and treats.

She continues to guard food and smells of food although she is much improved – initially, she would growl and try to nip the other dog but Ellie does continue to show body language demonstrating her discomfort about having other dogs around her food. By putting Ellie in a crate during the preparation of food AND feeding Ellie in a separate room with no other doggy interface, Ellie has had no further issues with the other dogs in the home. She has never guarded her humans or space.
